The History of the Landmark church of Christ

In April of 2004 a group of some 35 Christians met together to form a congregation of Christ followers.  Their first meeting place was a Victorian home on Houston St and thus began the Landmark church of Christ.

The group met there for about 60 days until two members (Jim Tucker & Chip Langston) that had contacts at Kaufman High School, worked to get 1 class room and 1 large room to meet in.

The church met there for about 12 months and increased in numbers to about 50 + members.  Then with the Lord’s blessing and faith they were able to make the $3,000 monthly payment and moved to a larger facility at 207 E. Fair St.

The congregation met there until 2010 when the Lord blessed the group with the ownership of a 20,000 sq. ft building at 607 E. Fair St.  By this time the Sunday morning attendance had increased to about 200.

In 2016 – 2017 the Sunday morning attendance was approaching 300.  In July of 2017 additional Deacons were added to assist in areas of the church, bringing the number of Elders to 5 and Deacons to 17.

With blessings from the Lord, the congregation in July of 2018, was able to move to a new location with  a 54,000 sq. ft. building at 401 S Jackson St. with more class rooms and a larger auditorium.

This church, from the beginning, chose to be evangelistic and follow the first church started at Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost.
